Great Flinders 38(137) defeated Port Lincoln 22(97)
On a wild and windy night in Cummins, Great Flinders were too strong for Port Lincoln in a contest played in good spirits.
Port Lincoln started well winning 9 of the first 12 matches, before Great Flinders superior depth came to the fore to level up the scores after the first round of singles.
Great Flinders pushed ahead through the first doubles round, with Matt McLachlan and Isaac Telfer coming from two sets down to defeat Simon Strycharski and John Folkman in five sets.
With Great Flinders leading by 4 at the halfway mark, Port Lincoln had some work to do, but wins to Neil Carr and Richard Hennell kept Great Flinders in front, before Vicki Mundy outlasted Sally Kunze in five sets.
With the night all but over, Great Flinders stormed home in the final round of doubles, winning 8 of the 10 on offer to finish comfortable winners of the shield for 2021.
