Season 2012
Division I
Preliminary Final
Panthers 13(45) defeated Gladiators 8(34)
Panthers progressed through to the 2012 grand final by overcoming an undermanned Gladiators outfit. Gladiators began well with wins to Aaron Sincock, Nathan Sincock, Joe Perone and Bill Broughton to lead by two after the first round. The night became unravelled for Gladiators when Joe Perone unfortunately was unable to compete in his remaining matches, leaving Gladiators playing a man short, but still not without a chance. Panthers levelled the scores through the second round with four wins of their own, including Shane Stockham coming from a set down to defeat Geoff Nottle in five sets. Panthers swung the match in their favour with a dominating doubles performance, winning all three and leaving Gladiators with the monumental task of winning five singles in the final round. Don Saunders and Bill Broughton kept the dream alive for Gladiators, but unfortunately it was a case of so close but yet so far for them as Panthers won the final three matches of the night, all in five sets, to move into the Grand Final after finishing fourth on the ladder.
Best for Panthers were Tai Wheadon and Wade Gray. Best for Gladiators were Aaron Sincock, Don Saunders and Bill Broughton.
Grand Final
Dodgers 12(46) defeated Panthers 9(37)
Dodgers are the 2012 Division I Premiers after a close and tense contest against Panthers. In true grand final manner, the night began evenly with nothing separating the two sides. Jhy Mueller started well for Dodgers with a win over Wade Gray, while Tai Wheadon and Shane Stockham were leading the way for Panthers. Dodgers made the first break for the night with four wins in the second round. Panthers weren’t going to be pushed aside easily though and came out with plenty of fight in the doubles to take two and reduce the margin to a solitary game with the final six singles to play. Dodgers’ Franz Denk and Jhy Mueller defeated Ellen Challinger and Fiona Rosalia respectively to increase the lead to three, before Wade Gray responded for Panthers with a win of his own against Kevin Westbury. Dodgers only needed one of the last three matches for the premiership, and with all of those going to five sets, it was an indication of how close the night really was. In the end it was Angelika Sederstrom who claimed the winning match, defeating Tyler Ebert in five sets in a match where both players had match points.
Best for Dodgers was Jhy Mueller. Best for Panthers was Tai Wheadon.
Division II
Preliminary Final
Gladiators 12(38) defeated Tigers 9(34)
Gladiators were missing important number four player Brayden Arbon due to an eye injury for this important clash and Tigers had their number five player Judy Myers-Rooke absent, replaced by Sam Tiller and Jacqui Harding respectively. Games were tight in the opening round as one would expect but came out even as Tigers top players Russell Fordham and Ralph Sandford jumped out with two straight wins over Kent Barber and Bev Atkins, before Lance Barnett and Harry Hood got wins on the board for Gladiators over Christian Fletcher and Dean Polkinghorne respectively. Gladiators lifted in the second round with Kent Barber scoring an inspiring win over Ralph Sandford and Bev Atkins claimed Christian Fletcher in straight sets, while for Tigers Russell Fordham and Dean Polkinghorne defeated Lance Barnett and Nathan Phillips. Gladiators were up by two going into the doubles but Tigers claimed two to edge closer and be one behind with the last round to play. Gladiators scored first with Harry Hood collecting his third single over Jacqui Harding before Tyler Ingerson picked up a great win for Tigers over Nathan Phillips but then Sam Tiller played the match of his life coming from two sets down to defeat Dean Polkinghorne in five for a very important and unexpected win for Gladiators to reach ten first and one win away from the grand final. This was the turning point of the match. The pressure was mounting as the last three matches took to the tables and Tigers needing to win two and Gladiators one. Kent Barber engaged in a real tough battle with Christian Fletcher coming away with an impressive victory for the youngster to give Gladiators a place in the grand final while Lance Barnett put the icing on the cake defeating Ralph Sandford in straight sets.

Grand Final
Dodgers 13(47) defeated Gladiators 8(33)
As expected Dodgers who were the most consistent team all year and lead the competition all the way got the job done on the most important night of the year. For Gladiators, who were second most of the year were pleased to make the grand final after their unexpected win in the preliminary final so were out to give it their best shot. Games were tight in the early stages when Gladiators put the first win on the board with Kent Barber as he claimed Ernie Bauer in an impressive victory surviving, while Dodgers’ Kane Ingerson saved three match points in the fifth set to win over Lance Barnett. Young stars for Gladiators Harry Hood and Nathan Phillips came through with victories over Elisa Fletcher and Megan Atkins while Reece and Zoey Fordham were strong for Dodgers. Dodgers stepped up the pace in the second round as their top order all won through but Tyler Ingerson and Harry Hood prevented a landslide. Dodgers combined well in the doubles to win two and take their score to nine while an absolute marathon match unfolded in the third double with Gladiators’ pair Nathan Phillips and Harry Hood holding their concentration to take the fifth set over Zoey Fordham and Megan Atkins to be the match of the night. Going into the final round Gladiators were three behind and gave themselves a chance taking the first two matches with Harry Hood over Megan Atkins and Nathan Phillips playing well to defeat Zoey Fordham in five but that's where it all ended for Gladiators as Dodgers came home strongly winning the remaining four matches to win the 2012 Premiership.
